About National Heart Institute
National Heart Institute (NHI) opened in 1981 as India's first dedicated cardiac care institute — a brainchild of Dr. Paul Dudley White and Dr. S. Padmavati, inaugurated by Prime Minister Indira Gandhi as the Clinical Research and Medical Care Delivery Wing of the All India Heart Foundation. It was also the first private-sector cardiac catheterization laboratory outside the developed world at the time.

Heart function is not affected the day after bypass surgery, but driving is not recommended for at least 4-6 weeks, mainly due to safety concerns around steering and possible sternum pain.
Yes. A second bypass operation has become a standard procedure, since many patients today are operated on in their late 60s and 70s and may need a repeat procedure later in life.
Not always — it depends on the extent and location of blockages. For mild-to-moderate blockages, medical therapy or angioplasty may be preferable to bypass surgery in certain conditions.
